Notice of intent to initiate the subregional shoreline adaptation plan titled Tiburon Sea Level Rise Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptation Plan

The Town of Tiburon is preparing a Subregional Shoreline Adaptation Plan to assess vulnerabilities to sea level rise and coastal flooding and to identify feasible, locally appropriate adaptation strategies. Funded by the Ocean Protection Council, the Plan will fulfill the requirements of the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission’s (BCDC) Regional Shoreline Adaptation Plan (RSAP) framework including consistency with the One Bay Vision, Strategic Regional Priorities, and RSAP Minimum Standards. The project will evaluate risks to community assets, infrastructure, environmental resources, and public access areas using best available science, regional and local data, and community and stakeholder input. The Town will develop adaptation pathways and advance one to three priority strategies to a conceptual design level, along with implementation considerations, to inform future resilience projects, policy decisions, and funding opportunities. Consistent with the RSAP Equity Assessment Standard, the Plan will consider differential exposure and adaptive capacity among residents, shoreline users, workers, and visitors, with attention to public access, emergency response, and community well-being.
