BCDC is seeking a consultant to comprehensively update Shoreline Plants in order to better integrate changing climate conditions and best practices into approachable guidance for planting design for sites around the Bay Area. The updated guidance will introduce concepts and approaches to planting design for nature-based solutions, soil remediation, and changing hydrological conditions from sea level and groundwater rise as informed by traditional knowledge and the best available science. The project will update botanical and scientific information, as well as employ plain language for a wider audience to better understand how thoughtful approaches, both traditional and modern, can better connect people to the coastal zone landscape. The project will be a collaboration between the consultant and BCDC staff in consultation with partner agencies, stakeholders, community-based organizations, tribes, and the public.
