College Internships
BCDC offers a 10‑week paid internship designed for undergraduate students – especially first‑generation students and those from diverse backgrounds – who are interested in coastal science, climate resilience, public policy, and environmental justice. Interns gain hands‑on experience working with an influential state agency dedicated to protecting and enhancing the San Francisco Bay.
Through multidisciplinary projects, mentorship, and professional development, interns will learn about coastal zone management, shoreline adaptation, wetlands protection, and how government agencies collaborate to support Bay Area communities. Interns will participate in site visits, public meetings, multi‑stakeholder events, and work directly with experienced staff across BCDC’s programs. Students may also receive guidance on resume writing, interviewing, and career pathways, and may be eligible for academic credit depending on their university’s requirements.
This hybrid internship (in-office and telework) is open to actively enrolled college students, with no prior job experience required. Students with an interest in environmental policy, community resilience, data analysis, coastal science, or public service are encouraged to apply.
