    (Karen Wolowicz) [415/352-3669]
The Design Review Board will hold a public hearing on a proposal to develop a 94-acre site on the former Fleet Industrial Supply Center Facility (FISC Facility) in the City of Alameda, Alameda County. The site is bounded by Tinker Avenue on the south, Mariner Square Loop and the Webster Tube on the east, the Coast Guard Housing on the West, and approximately 3,200 feet of waterfront on the edge of the Alameda/Oakland Estuary on the north. The proposed Alameda Landing project is a mixed-use development that includes 400,000 square feet of office space with supporting retail, a 20,000-square-foot health club, 300,000 square feet of retail space, 300 housing units and an eight-acre waterfront park. Approximately 450,000 square feet (10.6 acres) of the waterfront portion of the project is within the Commission’s jurisdiction; of this total, eight-acres will be reserved for public access, and the other 2.6-acres would be for office and retail space. The proposed public access area includes: a waterfront promenade along the length of the wharf, a Class I bike lane, public streets, parks and open space areas with flexible sports fields, view corridors, internal circulation paths and walkways and a waterfront plaza with steps leading down to the water. The applicant also proposes to place 1,000 square feet of fill in the Bay for a dock in order to provide a water taxi service to Jack London Square, and a kayak and small boat launch facility. This is the first review by the BCDC Design Review Board. Members of the public who are interested in receiving a full project summary may contact Karen Wolowicz at 415/352-3669.
