March 6, 2014 Commission Meeting Summary

BCDC Commissioners, Alternates, and Staff:

18 members attended today's BCDC meeting, which was held at the Ferry Building in San Francisco.

The Commission voted unanimously to grant a permit to the East Bay Regional Park District to restore and enhance Breuner Marsh, create a shoreline park, and complete a 1.25 mile segment of the Bay Trail, after amending the staff recommendation regarding the impact of rising sea level on the project's proposed public access. The Commission received a briefing on the progress of the San Francisco Waterfront Working Group, implemented with the Port of San Francisco, regarding the possible locations of new public benefits, including open water basins, public plazas, and shed removal. The Commission received a briefing by Sam Schuchat, former Executive Director of the San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority (SFBRA), on SFBRA's plans to place on the November 2014 ballot a parcel tax to fund Bay restoration activities. The Commission received a briefing detailing the status of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Pond 9/10 public access trail at the Napa Plant site. For details contact Adrienne Klein (415/352-3609; adriennek@bcdc.ca.gov).
