July 18, 2013 Commission Meeting Summary

20 members attended the BCDC meeting on Thursday, July 18, which was held at the MetroCenter in Oakland.

The Commission held a briefing and panel discussion on the Long Term Management Strategy (LTMS) to facilitate sediment management in the Bay.

The Commission held a briefing/update on the strike of the Bay Bridge on January 7, 2013 by the Overseas Reymar (an oil tanker).

The Commission held a briefing on BCDC's first-ever participation in the annual Golden Guardian exercise conducted by the California Office of Emergency Services.

The Commission received an update from BCDC staff and staff from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife on the Department's efforts to complete the public access for the south and east sides of Pond 9/10 at the Napa Plant Site.

The Commission held a briefing on the Napa County waterfront and related issues, which was conducted by Commissioners Wagenknecht and Techel.

The Commission meetings scheduled for August 1, August 15, and September 5, 2013 are cancelled.  The next Commission meeting will be held on September 19, 2013, at the MetroCenter in Oakland.  The preliminary agenda will include the following items:
  1. < id="ext-gen1382">Briefing: The Commission will participate in a discussion on shoreline adaptation strategies, preparation, and implementation led by representatives of the Natural Resources Agency.
  2. Briefing/Update: Commission staff and Port of San Francisco staff will present an update on the San Francisco Waterfront Planning Process.
  3. Briefing: Commissioner Dave Pine of San Mateo County will present a briefing on the San Mateo County waterfront and related issues.
< id="ext-gen1393">SUPPLEMENTAL REQUEST: Chair Wasserman requests that Commissioners, Alternates, and any interested parties contact him by Wednesday, July 24, to provide comments that have a bearing on Executive Director Larry Goldzband's annual performance review.
