April 18, 2013 Commission Meeting Summary
Twenty members attended the BCDC meeting on Thursday, April 18, which was held at the MetroCenter in Oakland.
The Commission directed staff to enter into two contracts, the first for supervisor training for staff and the second for digitizing Commission permit files.
The Commission held a public hearing on a permit application for a floating dry dock in Alameda owned by Bay Ship and Yacht in Oakland, and voted 18-0-0 to approve the application.
The Commission held a public hearing on the draft Commission Strategic Plan. The Commission adopted the Strategic Plan in concept and will continue its consideration and possibly vote on the Plan at a future meeting.
The next Commission meeting will be held on May 2, 2013, at the Ferry Building in San Francisco. The preliminary agenda is as follows:
- MTC and ABAG staff will present a briefing on "Plan Bay Area," its public meetings and town hall discussions, and its EIR process.
- Discussion and possible vote(s): The Commission will consider SB 792, pending legislation concerning the Joint Policy Committee by Senator DeSaulnier, and possible amendments and/or alternatives.
- The Port of San Francisco and the Golden State Warriors will provide an informational briefing on the proposed Multi-Purpose Venue project on Piers 30-32 along the San Francisco Waterfront.
- Discussion and possible vote(s): The Commission will consider SB 122, pending legislation concerning the Vessel Turn In Program by Senator Lieu.
In addition, at the subsequent Commission meeting on May 16, it is likely that the Commission will hold a public hearing on AB 1273, pending legislation concerning the public trust doctrine's applicability to Piers 30/32 by Assembly Member Ting, and possible amendments and/or alternatives.
