March 21, 2013 Commission Meeting Summary

Nineteen members attended yesterday's BCDC meeting, which was held at the MetroCenter in Oakland.

Commissioner Kate Sears of Marin County and Liz Lewis (Senior Watershed Planner, Marin County Department of Public Works) provided a briefing on issues and activities of interest to the Commission along the Marin County shoreline.

Commission staff and staff from the California Department of Boating and Waterways, CalRecycle, and the Richardsonís Bay Regional Agency provided a briefing on abandoned vessels in San Francisco Bay.

The Commission adjourned the meeting in honor of the late State Senator Nicholas Petris, one of the authors of the McAteer-Petris Act, along with the Senator Eugene McAteer. Senator Petris passed away on Wednesday.

The next Commission meeting will be held on April 18, 2013, at the MetroCenter in Oakland. The preliminary agenda is as follows: 

  1. Discussion and possible vote(s): The Commission will consider the draft 2013-2016 BCDC Strategic Plan.
  2. Hearing and possible vote(s): The Commission will hold a public hearing and possibly vote on a permit application for Bay Ship and Yacht in Oakland.
