November 15, 2012 Commission Meeting Summary

Twenty one members attended yesterday's BCDC meeting, which was held at the MetroCenter in Oakland.

Lieutenant Colonel John K. Baker, the San Francisco District Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, briefed the Commission on the Corps’ history, its mission, its activities in the Bay Area, and its relationships with local, regional, and state agencies. Commissioner Sean Randolph, President of the Bay Area Council Economic Institute, briefed the Commission on the Regional Economic Assessment that was prepared for the Joint Policy Committee. For details, contact Larry Goldzband (415/352-3653; lgoldzband@bcdc.ca.gov).

The next Commission meeting will be held on December 6, 2012, at the Ferry Building in San Francisco. The preliminary agenda is as follows:

  1. Public Hearing: Proposed amendments to the Solano County component of the Suisun March Local Protection Program
  2. Public Hearing and Possible Vote(s): Permit application and consistency determination proposed by CA Department of Fish and Game and the US Army Corps of Engineers for restoring 1,900 acres of north bay salt ponds, the last of the former Cargill north bay ponds to be restored
  3. Informational Briefing: BCDC process to analyze major permit applications
