July 7, 2011 Commission Meeting Summary

Twenty one members attended the meeting, which was held at the Ferry Building in San Francisco.

The Commission voted (18-0-0) to amend the San Francisco Bay Plan and the Suisun Marsh Protection Plan to revise a priority use designation in the Collinsville area of Solano County. The Commission held a public hearing and voted (20-0-0) to initiate the process of considering proposed amendments of the San Francisco Bay Plan and Seaport Plan to delete a port priority use designation at Hunters Point in San Francisco. The Commission voted (19-0-1) to support H.R. 104 and S. 412, which would ensure that revenue generated by the federal Harbor Maintenance Tax is spent on harbor maintenance activities. For details, contact Brenda Goeden (415/352-3623 brandag@bcdc.ca.gov).

The Commission voted (19-0-0) to endorse staff recommendations for revitalizing BCDC’s advisory committees. For details, contact Joe LaClair (415/352-3656 joel@bcdc.ca.gov).

The Marin County Board of Supervisors has appointed Kathrin Sears to replace the late Charles McGlashan as the County’s representative on BCDC. Governor Jerry Brown has appointed Ms. Sears to complete Mr. McGlashan’s term on the Board. Supervisor Susan Adams was re-appointed as the alternate representative. The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors has confirmed the appointment of Supervisor Dave Pine as the alternate to Commissioner Carole Groom. The budget for California’s 2011-12 fiscal year approved by the Legislature and Governor Brown provides a budget for BCDC in the current fiscal year that is essentially the same as it was last year. For details, contact Will Travis (415/352-3653 travis@bcdc.ca.gov).

Ming Yeung has been promoted to Coastal Program Analyst III to serve as BCDC’s lead regulatory staff member in dealing with permits for the America’s Cup events, and Sandra Hamlat has resigned from her position as an analyst on BCDC’s dredging program staff.
