December 2, 2010 Commission Meeting Summary

Twenty-three members attended the meeting, which was held at the Ferry Building in San Francisco.

The Commission held a public hearing and voted (20-0-0) to approve a permit application from the Port of San Francisco for improvements in shoreline public access at Fisherman’s Wharf. For details, contact Max Delaney (415/352-3668

The Commission closed the public hearing that has been open since October 7, 2010 on proposed revisions to the San Francisco Bay Plan to address climate change. Written comments on the proposed amendments will be accepted until December 17, 2010. These comments, along with input from the meetings the staff is holding with local governments and policy direction from the Commission, will be addressed in a revised staff recommendation on proposed amendments to the Bay Plan that will be released early next year. A public hearing on the revised recommendation will be held in February or March 2011. In preparing the revised recommendation the Commission directed the staff to propose findings and policies that are exclusively for the Commission’s use in carrying out BCDC’s regulatory responsibilities within its current permit jurisdiction. A decision will be made in 2011 on whether and in what form any guidance or advice will be provided for dealing with sea level rise outside BCDC’s regulatory jurisdiction.
