November 4, 2010 Special Commission Meeting Summary

Twenty members attended the meeting, which was held at the Ferry Building in San Francisco.

The Commission continued its public hearing on making revisions to the San Francisco Bay Plan to address climate change. The hearing was opened on October 7, 2010, continued to October 21, 2010, and the Commission held a special public hearing on November 2, 2010. The Commission unanimously endorsed a staff proposal to expand the public outreach on the amendment process by:

  1. continuing the public hearing at least until the Commission’s November 18, 2010 meeting;
  2. holding workshops in all nine Bay Area counties during November and December;
  3. providing Commission direction to the staff on preferred amendment language in December;
  4. holding a public hearing on a fourth preliminary staff recommendation in February or March 2011; and (5) voting on the Bay Plan amendments in early April 2011. For details, contact Joe LaClair (415/352-3656

The Commission unanimously concurred in Chair Randolph’s re-appointment of Commissioner Joan Lundstrom to serve as the Commission’s representative on the Harbor Safety Committee of the San Francisco Bay Region. For details, contact Linda Scourtis (415/352-3644

The Commission unanimously concurred in Chair Randolph’s appointment of Commissioner Geoffrey Gibbs to serve as one of the Commission’s three representatives on the Regional Airport Planning Committee. Commissioner Gibbs will replace Commissioner Alice Lai-Bitker  who is leaving the Commission because her term on the Alameda County Board of Supervisors is ending.
