The Commission unanimously approved a resolution of appreciation for Peter Drekmeier, Commissioner Bob Wieckowski’s alternate on BCDC, who decided not to run for re-election to the Palo Alto city council and, therefore, is no longer eligible to serve on BCDC. The San Francisco District Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has appointed Cameron Johnson to replace Mike Dillabough as Jane Hick’s alternate on BCDC; the Senate Rules Committee has confirmed the appointment of Sanjay Ranchod to serve as Barry Nelson’s alternate; and the Secretary of the California Business, Transportation and Housing Agency has appointed Bijan Sartipi to serve as the agency’s new representative on BCDC and Caltrans Deputy Director James Richards to serve as alternate Commissioner. Administrative authorization has been issued for four flood control projects, which together are needed to meet FEMA requirements for flood protection for the community of Redwood Shores in Redwood City. Leslie Lacko, a senior planner who has been on a six-month leave-of-absence, has resigned from BCDC’s staff. Matt Piven joined BCDC’s staff as a volunteer intern working on jurisdictional determinations in the regulatory division. He has BA in economics and is pursuing a masters degree in urban planning at San Jose State. He was a research assistant at Neil Mayer and Associates, and has worked with the Baltimore Development Corporation and the San Jose Redevelopment Agency.
